Honor Hickman

Honor Hickman is a flutist and teaching artist from Boston, Massachusetts currently pursuing a masters degree at the Eastman School of Music. Growing up listening to Bach and the BeeGees, she has always been interested in cultivating a versatile career and presenting an engaging outlook on classical music to her audiences. She is a founding member of the musical storytelling duo “Musical Animals,” bringing new and engaging children’s musical programming to libraries and communities in the Greater Boston area.

Honor’s principal teachers are Bonita Boyd and Cynthia Meyers (Boston Symphony Orchestra), and has worked with Paula Robison, Dr. Renee Krimsier, Aaron Goldman (National Symphony Orchestra), and Lindsey Goodman (West Virginia Symphony). She has had her solo debut in Jordan Hall premiering various contemporary works as well as the recital debut of her chamber group, Category 5 Winds. Under the baton of Marin Alsop, she has performed in the National Cathedral and the Ravinia Festival. She has attended and performed at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, and the Mostly Modern Festival, and can be heard on the NAXOS album “Gerswhin, Joan Tower & Steven Stucky: Works for Piano & Orchestra.”

When she is taking a break from the flute, she enjoys playing board games with friends and family, baking, and reacting, reviewing, and enjoying new K-Pop releases.
