Jeff Kail

bass

Kail joined the Kansas City Symphony in 2006 and served as Principal Bass from 2008 to 2023. Inspired by his mentor, the late Ralph Jones, Principal Bass of the Atlanta Symphony, Kail pursued a career as an orchestral musician and teacher.

He has performed as a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and as a guest musician with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the symphonies of Atlanta, Nashville, and Grant Park. As a soloist, Kail appeared with the Kansas City Symphony in Mozart’s Per questa bella mano in 2014, and in 2013 he gave the world premiere of Kerwin Young’s Concerto for Bass at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where he served as Adjunct Professor of Bass for a decade.

Upon relocating to Jackson, Wyoming, Kail joined the Grand Teton Music Festival and frequently performs with the Utah Symphony.
