Katherine Murdock
Katherine Murdock, viola, has performed throughout the world as a member of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, and with such groups as Music from Marlboro, Boston Chamber Music Society, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, St. Luke's, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She has been a guest of the Guarneri, Emerson, and Vermeer string quartets, and has performed live for West German Radio, the BBC, NPR “Performance Today”, and NBC’s “Today Show.”
Ms. Murdock received her education at Oberlin and Yale; her teachers and mentors have included Karen Tuttle, William Primrose, Joseph Silverstein, Sándor Végh, Felix Galimir, Robert Mann, and Eugene Lehner. Currently Professor at University of Maryland, she has served on the faculties of Boston Conservatory, Longy School, Hartt School, Artist-in-Residence at Harvard University, SUNY Stony Brook and in summers on the faculty of Yellow Barn and Kneisel Hall festivals. For twenty-one years she was violist of the Los Angeles Piano Quartet. In recent years she has toured New Zealand, Turkey, Taiwan, Guatemala, and Brazil to perform recitals and masterclasses.
